The Commerce Ministry of Thailand has announced ambitious plans to establish the country as the leading center for the hotel, restaurant, and catering (HoReCa) industry in Asia.
Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, speaking at the opening of THAIFEX-HoReCa ASIA 2024 on February 6, highlighted the event as a vital platform for entrepreneurs in the HoReCa sector to leverage advanced technologies, innovation, and local insights to scale their businesses.
Following the success of THAIFEX – ANUGA ASIA 2023, Phumtham is confident this year’s trade show will further position Thailand as a key player in the regional HoReCa industry.
He emphasized the need for economic stimuli to maintain growth, aligning with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s strategy to promote Thailand as a premier tourism destination, celebrated for its exceptional hospitality and services.
Phumtham also noted Thailand’s status as the eighth-most visited tourist destination globally, attributing its popularity to the nation’s rich culture, cuisine, and scenic beauty.
Tourism revenues for 2023 reached 2.3 trillion baht ($64.6 billion), accounting for 70% of the country’s annual budget.
The trade show, a collaboration between the Department of International Trade Promotion, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and Koelnmesse, is taking place from March 6-8. It features over 300 companies from 23 countries, occupying 27,000 square meters and showcasing nine HoReCa segments.
Expected to attract 20,000 buyers and visitors from around the world, the event serves as a significant opportunity for industry professionals to present their innovative solutions and designs, thereby enhancing their international market presence. – HotelNewsAsia.com
